Description

International conference: Memory of places and cinematographic writing of history

Cinema and history / History of cinema

Montpellier, Perpignan, Rivesaltes and La Jonquera

Days 8, 9 and 10 November 2018

The MUME will take place in one of the sessions, on November 9, from 3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The conference "Memory of places and cinematographic writing of history" attempts to analyze the way in which the spaces marked by past events, filmed in their state of realization, allow a renewal of the writing of history. The relationship between the present and the past is therefore at the heart of the historical operation. The heart of the proposal will be the documentary and the film essay when the question of integrating history into places and landscapes arises. These conferences and presentations of documentaries and short films situated between history and memory, will bring together university students and the general public to show little-known films in order to stimulate reflection and debate. The conference is open to everyone. The films screened will not be presented so much as a theoretical object but as a starting point from which the participating specialists, filmmakers, contemporary historians and film historians will take as a reference in their exhibitions.
