September 10, 2010.

Carles Riba (1893-1959) Homer takes the aspects inherent to represent for him the bitter classicism should be promoted in a time of cultural crisis (like the now and now) besieging reality. Here the poet is reformulated the concept of humanism understood as an attitude linked to a specific vital function of culture: to unite differences, namely that of bringing together while also preserving as now-common values highest tradition. From a moralistic humanism is not, to the extent that poetry is a living experience in which the poet takes the ancient teaching Riba applies to defined (and known) himself and his time. Bearing in mind that in the context of a harsh reality of exile any "personal salvation" could also become "collective salvation" and therefore national. Elegies ... dignify want a homeland and deprived of freedom and cultural continuity that has been (and remains) is truncated and therefore effects on us that might be insurmountable. For Riba, and is a reflection that belongs to us-the experience of exile is equivalent to death, death understood as greater birth. Life, death and regeneration from death. R. CP
