The junk. Internally, exclusion and political control. Algiers and Collioure
In February 1939, for much of French public opinion, Civil War refugees were nothing more than unwanted foreigners. The treatment they received from the administration generally corresponded to this qualifier. Confined in concentration camps they were subjected to internment and exclusion. Even, in some cases, those refugees who were considered ideologically dangerous were imprisoned in disciplinary grounds, as was the case of the Collioure fortress.
The tour will start in Algiers with a visit to the beach and the interpretation center of the countryside, in the center of the town. Later, we will travel to Collioure, where we will take a tour of the scenes of the republican internment and end with a visit to the tomb of the exiled poet, Antonio Machado.
