Commemorative and cultural activities in memory of the border crossing in February 1939 of hundreds of thousands of civilians and soldiers, on their way to exile, fleeing the Franco occupation of Catalonia in the last months of the war Spanish civil.

At the Argeles Memorial: inauguration of the exhibition "1939 the Camp in 365 images"

At the Jaurès cinema:

Presentation by Grégory Tuban, historian, of the new website for the Argeles Camp Memorial Conference / debate by Grégory Tuban and François Boutonnet. Nine minutes of unpublished archive footage of the Argeles camp.

 

Saturday February 23

Start of several walks: Cerbère, Banyuls, Arles sur Tech ...

11h Argeles regrouping of all the steps, departure from the town hall of Argeles, stop at the Spanish cemetery, wreath laying, walk to the monolith, location of the Concentration Camp, on the beach. Each group will carry an emblematic photo of the exodus on the passage of their village, taking words.

Musical accompaniment by Les Barbeaux.

All afternoon, the Retirada in the street: performance of “street art” by 5 graffiti artists on the village squares on the theme of exile and confinement
