Exhibition “The Great War in Pictures. 1914-1918”
An exhibition that is the result of the collaboration with the Museum of History of Catalonia and Caixa de Sabadell. This exhibition, which was seen in the Museum of History of Catalonia (MHC) in Barcelona in 2009, is on display at the MUME during the summer months. This is part of the image archives of the Archivo General de Palacio of the Great War of which 107 have been selected from more than 4,000 pictures.
The Great War in the MUME makes sense because we can say that it was the conflict that generated everything that happened later on: ideological wars, indiscriminate massacres, forced displacement of population and, especially, the consequences of the end of the conflict that brought about the conditions for the rise of totalitarianism and the crisis of democracy. Understanding the 20th century means knowing the First World War in depth. In addition, we must consider the documentary and graphic value of the photographs displayed.
Exhibition: 3 July to 5 September 2010
