Exhibition "Agde, the catalans' camp (1939-1942)"
From June, 5 at August, 31, 2026
Openning: Friday, 5 june 2026 at 18h30.
This exhibition, produced by the Democratic Memorial in 2024 and curated by Dr. Laia Arañó, author of the book The Catalan Camp. Agde in the French Concentration Camp System (1939-1940), focuses on the Agde concentration camp, a refugee camp created by the French government in 1939 to accommodate refugees from the Spanish Civil War. Most of the internees were Catalans, which is why the camp was known as the “Catalan Camp”.
The exhibition aims to promote knowledge about exile and, in particular, about the internment of Republican exiles in refugee camps in the south of France, a little-known issue that this exhibition aims to contribute to disseminating.
