Paointing and installation Per sempre més, ànimes marcades

In the MUME Space Hall from July 7 to November 18, 2018.

Opening: Saturday, July 7 at 12 noon

The art installation "Forever More, Marked Souls" poses a reflective foray into a Europe today that is the result of a dual heritage: construction and destruction, culture and barbarism, light and shadow.

Figurative scenes, glimpsed behind vertical lines that create a certain visual distortion, evoke these political, social, cultural and moral ambivalences that are at the origin of the formation of both the collective public sphere and the most intimate and personal space. In turn, a kind of curtain of precariously bound papers precedes a comfortable visual perception of the pictorial work. As if it were an almost translucent wall, the montage is outlined as a barrier that hints at the survival of an indigestible memory. Stains on paper, almost spectral, announce grief over painful absences. Mourning work remains to be done and, on the other hand, an obsession with something that has not just happened is imposed, fueled, moreover, by the uncertainties of the present and the immediate future.

Pep Camps (Girona, 1962) studied Art History at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He has exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Bangkok and other cities in France and Italy. Since 2000 he has been a teacher at the Girona Municipal School of Art.
