Roser Bover

d’orificis al mur (on holes in the wall)

2016 Installation, series of pictures of Syrian refugees downloaded from internet and recomposed on PVC, aluminium cables and printed paper

With the art installation, d’orifics al mur, Roser Bover offers a reflection on the attitude adopted by the spheres of power concerning migration flows that reduces the exiled person and/or migrant to mere “human waste”, an expression used by Zygmunt Bauman in his essay Wasted Lives. This attitude unleashes very forceful and painful words such as displaced, castaway, undocumented or illegal. The language and pictures are not alien to the defection that those who could subvert such a dramatic situation fall into.

This work appears as a critical and poetic counter-narrative on pain, loss and the walls built everywhere because of geopolitical interests and a socioeconomic crisis of ethical scope that undermines the basic principle of humanism.
